THE INFLUENCE OF ALTERNATE PROCESS PLANNING IN JOB-SHOP SCHEDULING

The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationships between the alternate process planning and the scheduling performance regarding to three different criteria; they are mean tardiness, mean work-in-process, and mean machine utilization. In this paper, three factors which are the percentage of alternate process planning, the scheduling algorithm, and dispatching rule are considered relative to those three criteria. The result of this research will show how the percentage of alternate process planning influences those criteria and what the percentage of alternate process planning should be done efficiently and economically.
