摘要
The aluminum alloy type 319 contains silicon, copper, magnesium and other elements in low proportion, within the main applications of this alloy is the manufacture to heads of motors for automobiles and that due to the advance of the technology in the automotive field are require alloys with high mechanical properties. The alloy used in this research has a high content of silicon (8%) and the heat treatments with an aging to 1000 hours to study the behavior of the mechanical properties of the alloy. The results of the mechanical properties were 238 MPa in samples tempered in air and 225MPa in water for ultimate stress. 120MPa yield stress for both samples. The percentage of elongation was 6.4% in samples tempered in air and 6.6% in samples tempered in water. Brinell hardness was maintained at 75HB for samples tempered in air and 72HB in samples tempered in water. These results that were obtained demonstrate the influence of the heat treatments variables and chemical composition on the mechanical properties of the aluminum silicon alloys and exposes the behavior of this alloy in the products already assembled in the automobiles.
