COST PER UNIT PROPERTY OF PLASTICS

The authors discuss a cost aspect of the product design considerations. They suggest that within certain limitations, the use of cost per unit property could greatly aid the product designer in his search for the optimum plastic for each end product. Thus it would be very desirable for material manufacturers to offer their data in this form. To avoid a babel of different units, the system should be standardized by the SPI or SPE. Prices per unit property for several dozens of commercially available plastics are tabulated.
