ESTIMATES OF THE INTERANNUAL VARIABILITY MODULATION COMPONENT OF WIND VELOCITY OVER SEA

On the of basis analysis of long vectorial time series for wind velocity in various oceanic areas it is shown that interannual wind variability manifests itself not only as additive component estimated by the sequence of average annual values, but also as modulation component which describes the annual course variations. During last 30 - 40 years these components have no significant trend. Time series analysis was carried out using methods of stationary and periodically correlated stochastic process theory. It is shown that modulation component exceeds the additive one by factor two or three. It can be divided in regular (periodic) and stochastic parts.
