RESPONSE OF MUSTARD (BRASSICA-JUNCEA) VARIETIES TO NITROGEN IN NORTH MADHYA-PRADESH

A field experiment was conducted during the winter seasons (rabi) of 1987-88 and 1988-89 at Gwalior to evaluate the performance of 3 varieties (Varuna', 'Pusa Bold and 'Kranti') of mustard [Brassica juncea (L.) Czernj. & Cosson] at 4 rates (0, 30, 60, and 90 kg/ha) of N. 'Varuna' showed significantly higher seed yield than 'Kranti' owing to more number of branches as well as siliquae/plant. Nitrogen application significantly increased the seed yield lineraly up to kg 90 N/ha.
