EFFICACY OF CLOSANTEL AGAINST IMMATURE FASCIOLA-GIGANTICA INFECTION IN THE RABBIT

Closantel, a new anthelmintic is reported to work against immature and mature Fasciola hepatica in sheep (Vaselova et al., 1986) and cow (Sazanov et al,, 1990). Skuce and Fairweather (1990) have studied the effect of this drug on ultrastructure of F. hepatica. So far the drug does not seem to have been tried against F. gigantica. In the present work closantel 15% has been tried against 4 and 6 wk-old F. gigantica infection in rabbit.
