摘要:
One problem in microscopy is the estimation of the distribution of sizes of cellular particles (assumed to be spheres) from the distribution of their profiles in a thin tissue sample (tomato salad problem). Because the exact formula of the solution derived by BACH (1959) is difficult to evaluate, SCHUBERT/Voss (1974, 1975) provided an iterative procedure and a random search procedure to approximate the solution. This paper shows that neither of both procedures must be carried out, because there is a simple iterative procedure which gives precise results.
