THE IMPACT OF THE CRISIS IN THE PORTUGUESE LABOR SITUATION

In a few years, the economic and financial situation of Portugal went from an apparent normality to a deep crisis, which led to the use of external financial assistance, through the intervention of a troika consisting of representatives from the IMF, European Commission and European Central Bank. Before and after the troika, several "austerity" measures were taken with effects over the situation of civil servants, pensioners and, finally, employees in general, through a comprehensive labor reform. This paper describes and analyzes this process, whose results seem to be far from satisfactory.
