UNIQUE LASER DIODE MODULE USING SHORT TAPERED HEMISPHERICAL-END FIBER FOR OPTICAL HYBRID INTEGRATION

摘要
A unique laser diode (LD) module which incorporates a short singlemode fibre (SMF) chip with an optimised tapered hemispherical end for optical hybrid integration has been developed. To obtain excellent coupling stability, the new structural LD module was assembled by advanced Nd-YAG laser welding. An averaged coupling loss of 3.15 dB was obtained.
