摘要
The IndyPET scanner has been developed as a high resolution, high sensitivity research PET scanner for use in small animal, intermediate sized animal, and small field of view human (brain, breast, etc.) imaging applications. The system consists of two opposing detector banks with adjustable (22-42 cm) separation which are mounted on a rotatable gantry. By adjusting the detector separation, high sensitivity is achieved for each subject. The use of two detector banks reduces parallax - the measured resolution is less than 0.32 cm (fwhm) at the center of the field of view and increases to less than 0.38 cm at the edge of the field of view. Interplane septa are used to reduce scatter and out-of-the-field of view events. Characterization measurements including resolution, sensitivity, linearity, scatter fraction, and noise equivalent count rate are presented. Example images demonstrating the imaging capability of this system are also shown.
