POTASSIUM RELEASE BY ELECTROULTRAFILTRATION IN SOILS OF GALICIA

The usefulness of the EUF extraction technique for estimating the extent and rate of K release was evaluated for a group of surface horizons from Galician soils. Four parameters describing K release kinetics were considered: F1, EUF 20, EUF 80 and EUF 20/EUF 80. Significant differences were observed in the values of these parameters depending upon the clay content and clay type of the soil under study. We conclude that the technique provides useful information about the k status of the soil and about the type of minerals present in the clay fraction.
