摘要
The paper describes the concept of information system dependability, dependability attributes, threats and means to increase the dependability. It describes the reasons for studying the impact of information system dependability on business organisations. The methodology of the conducted research presented consists of three analyses based on relevant literature. The prospects of the business organisation reliance on information system supported by the information and telecommunication technology is shown. It analyzes the frequency of information system failures and the costs that arise. It is shown that business organisations increasingly rely on information systems supported by information and telecommunication technologies. It is also shown that the failure of information systems for business organisations is a major threat because of their frequent occurrence and because of significant financial losses it causes. In conclusion, the hypothesis is discussed and some directions for further research on the dependability of the information system supported by information and telecommunication technologies is presented. The aim of the paper is to show the importance of information system dependability to the scientific and professional community and thereby to promote research and professional work in this field.
