摘要
the paper focuses, from a historical and structural perspective, the cooperation that occurred between the State of Chile and the State of California, in the context of the Cold War. Since the Marshall Plan (1947), one of the strategies of United States was the financial and technical assistance. This strategy aimed to promote and encourage the development processes of peripheral countries. California became a pattern of development to the Chilean elites. The programs of cooperation that developed both states were funded by various U.S. government agencies. Meanwhile, the Ford Foundation funded an ambitious academic agreement between the most prestigious state universities.
