摘要
We have developed a new type of TFT-LCD module that has the additional functionality of pen positioning detection. The basic concept of the newly developed module is to utilize the existing electrode matrix and the drive circuitry of the LCD panel to detect pen position information. The module uses electrostatic induction to detect pen positions. The electrostatic capacity between a detection electrode installed in the tip of the pen and the LCD matrix is efficiently utilized for pen position detection. Utilizing the electrodes of the LCD and its drive circuits to detect pen positioning information is a tremendous improvement over existing methods in which a separate unit is required. When compared to present LCD pen detection methods, our method will save costs, reduce weight, and reduce thickness.
