摘要
It is possible to build a radiation cell which allows the investigation of thin molten salt layers. One may draw conclusions from the infrared emission spectra to the structure of molten salts. The influence of different cations on the structure of silicate melts both in and near the molten state is detectable. The existence of free O2--ions is not necessary for the description of the properties of a silicate slag. The basicity of a slag depends on the strength of the bond of the oxygen ions to the silicate network. The basicity of a molten silicate melt can be determined by the use of infrared emission spectroscopy.
