The Need of Contraception and Alternativies with Perimenopausal Women

Perimenopause is defined as a transition from childbearing and requirement for contraception to the infertility of menopause. Fecundity begins to decrease at age 40. However theoretically, a woman is still able to get pregnant as long as she is ovulating. Maternal mortality rate in women in their forties is our times higher than among women in their twenties, rates of spontaneous abortion are double. Research has shown that perimenopausal contraception is important medical issue. This article discussed the need of contraception and alternatives with premenopausal women.
