Industrial agglomeration in the Colombian Middle East

The purpose of this article focuses on the process of the manufacturing specialization in the Colombian Middle East, from some theoretical considerations on the industrial agglomeration. Then, a historical summary of the industrial localization is exposed, in a process that confirms the forces of accumulative causation in the manufacturing development. An empirical exercise is also performed in order to estimate the influence of inter or intra industrial spillovers, and the mutual complementarities of manufacturing between regions are stressed. Finally, it concludes the importance of complementarities among departments and the role of each one of them in drawing a national industrial cartography.
