摘要
Introduction: Human population of the world, around 6,500 million inhabitants in the beginning of XXI century, has not been a constant; it has changed through the history. Human population grows to different rhythms with variations in diverse geographical spaces. Objective: The article explores the relationship among public policies and population growth. Methodology: Texts, articles and demographic, historical publications were reviewed with an historical-hermeneutic focus. Besides, health policies were reviewed too, on physical registers and in the Web. Results: Text shows population growth as decisive factor in poverty's increase, famine and health's damage; the purpose is to generate restlessness, in front to structural changes of the State, from analysis of the relationships between demographic explosion and the emergence of environmental, social, politics and economic crises. Conclusions: The revision allows concluding the importance of demography since its historical genesis with regard to the government planning.
