PREVALENCE OF MIGRAINE AMONG WORKERS AT COTONOU IN BENIN

Background Migraine was a common and disabling disorder and affected frequently workers. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of migraine in the workers of five companies at Cotonou. Methods The transversal study was conducted in five workplaces at Cotonou, included 938 workers selected by survey random with three degrees. Migraine cases were defined according to IHS criteria with two modifications: duration or number of attacks. All subjects were asked by face to face interview by one medical student at seven form. Results Prevalence of headache was 24.8% (IC95%: [22.1-27.8]). The prevalence of migraine was 8.9% (IC95%: [7.2-10.9]), for IHS migraine, it was 2.3%, for probable migraine, it was 6.6%. The prevalence of migraine was significantly elevated in workwomen (20.8%) than workmen (7.2%) and seniors executives 16.9% (p<10-5). Migraine without aura was the frequent form. Conclusions Those results suggested that migraine were frequent at workplace and required other studies in order to study his real impact.
