摘要
In this paper we make a short comment on the theory of distributed-feedback lasers and its relation to solitary waves and solitons in passive and active periodic nonlinear media without and with cw or pulsed gain. Recent results on in-gap solitons and out-gap solitary waves as well as the effect of pulsed gain in an otherwise passive periodic nonlinear Kerr medium are illustrated.
