Results are presented of our work on the experimental verification of the theory of physical adsorption in the micropores of carbonaceous adsorbents. We have concentrated on works published during the past 2-3 years. These are primarily developments of ideas on the adsorption of vapor by nonuniform micropore structures. We discuss different descriptions of the adsorption of vapors of various substances in micropores in the absence of complicating phenomena, such as molecular association. The properties of adsorption equations based on the normal of adsorbate volume with respect to micropore size are discussed in detail. The suitability of benzene (293 K) and nitrogen (77 K) for use as standard vapors is discussed. On the basis of the ideas developed, an approximate description of the adsorption properties and micropore structures determined by the molecular-sieve method is proposed.
