Formation and development of religious space of the Far East in the post-Soviet period

The article is devoted to consideration of processes occurring in the religious life of the Russian Far East from mid 1980s to the first decade of the 21st century. It examines the peculiarities of formation and development of the modern confessional presence of the Russian Fra East; as well as takes a closer look at negative impact of the 1990s reform of the Russian society and the unbalanced policy of the Federal Centre. Special attention is paid to the activities of various religious faiths, the revival of their structures, the relationship with the authorities and with each other. Ihe article also covers the role of foreign missionaries in the revival and strengthening of the Protestant tradition in the region and the consecration of religious publications in a number of regional mass media.
