The Ports of Nautical Tourism in Croatia and Strategy of Local Development

As one of the types of tourism is a complex turistic and maritime related term. Due to its intensive relation to sea and sailing its definition is complex. Maritime component doesn't define it, although it might seem to be so by superficial analysis. Complete definition of nautical tourism presumes taking into consideration all the elements causing and defining it. According to the classification, nautical tourism falls into: ports of nautical tourism, charter and cruising. That is the classification found in all European countries and it is subject to basic macro - strategic developing model and natural development factors. In Croatian macro - strategic economic plans, the development of the ports of nautical tourism is of the special national interest. Since on the majority of the coast of Mediterranean, so on the Croatian part, the development of the ports of nautical tourism, especially marinas is ever increasing factor of total local and regional development. This particular role of marinas must especially be pointed out and classified especially related to the regional but also macro level. Therefore, this particular article tries to answer to the following questions: What is the role of tourism, especially marinas in economic development of Croatia and Mediterranean? What is the way of development of the small companies under the influence of marinas? Shall we break classic macro developing model into new regional developing model, the future of Croatia, Mediterranean and Europe? Answering the above questions we answer also: Which model of strategic development should be developed on our coast and islands and what is the place of nautical tourism. That is the topic of the article which is accompanied by this summary.
