Evaluation of the 'Rural UNIFENAS' - rural universitary extension program for the rural development of the microregion of Alfenas in the South of Minas Gerais

The rural UNIFENAS project is intended to promote the university extension offering opportunity of professional acting at the field level to the students of agronomy, veterinary medicine and animal science of the Universidade Jose do Rosario Vellano-Unifenas. from that project, the students pass on to develop practice works through the elaboration and implantation of technical projects of rural extension on the concordant farms making it possible the exchange of information between both parts, the improvement of the technical acquirements and generation of research work, nevertheless, in spite of the importance of that program as a subside to the solution of regional problems the project has not been evaluated yet. therefore, this work was conducted with the purpose of evaluating the "RURAL UNIFENAS" program, analyzing the stated objectives and their effectiveness as to the results reached. from this research, it was stressed that the objectives stated by the project were partially attained, still little effective, basing upon the perceptions of the students participating in the UNIFENAS rural university extension project.
