摘要
In this note we examine the appealing properties associated with some provincial groupings through the use of some instruments based on inequality and polarization approaches. In particular, we explore some informal groupings like European NUTS 1, the development axis (Villaverde y Perez (1996) and the geoconomic areas (Alcaide (2002) and also statistical, like the ones suggested by Aghevli y Mehran (1981) y Davies y Shorrocks (1989). In all cases we consider two basic criteria for the comparative analysis: the aggregation error and the number of groups considered.
