COMBINED INCINERATION OF SEWAGE-SLUDGE AND ORGANIC RESIDUES IN A FLUIDIZED-BED BOILER

A specific application of the FB technology is the combined incineration of sewage sludge, solid organic residues and liquid organic wastes including chlorinated hydrocarbons. A plant of that type was built for the first time for Mobay Corp./USA, and set to work in 1987. Test runs done under conditions required by the EPA showed that the CHC content is eliminated by more than 99.99 percent. The emissions of flue ash, HCl and CO are reduced to a value ranging far below the limits laid down by the authorities. This plant has been working continuously and effectively for more than four years.
