A BRIEF-HISTORY OF INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL-PSYCHOLOGY

A century of growth in international school psychology is traced. Its European and North American origins spring, in part, from the need for specialists in school psychology to assist in solving critical social and educational problems. Various conditions and events fostered its development. Four international, regional, and national conferences strongly impacted on school psychology. The creation of the International School Psychology Committee in 1972 helped promote professional dimensions of international school psychology's expansion. The efforts of three key leaders arc described briefly. The results of two international surveys are summarized.
