The Transition from School to Work of Sociology graduates: An Analysis for the Basque Country

This paper describes the process of the transition from school to work of Sociology graduates in the Basque Country. The analysis took into account the following variables: time first job search, channel access to employment, professional situation, sectors, company ownership and geographical mobility, and the characteristics of the jobs. It is found that Sociology graduates at the UPV/EHU show a somewhat slower transition to employment compared with others graduates, primarily use "social environment" as "channel access to employment", they are occupied principally in the service sector and private companies statewide, they believe their work has little to do with his studies of Sociology and in a high percentage, occupy temporary jobs.
