On the basis of previous case-study investigations a four-element model of organisational performance is proposed, whose links are identified with management processes. Data from a 4,000 strong sample, drawn from the international businesses of a major corporation, allowed perceptual measures of the model's parameters to be tested via LISREL across 12 replications; each replication representing samples from differing business and geographical areas of company operations. Results confirm some of the model's predicted relationships, and reveal a high degree of consistency across replications. Additionally, path analysis on 60 sub-unit aggregated perceptions shed light on the possible significance of relationships among the performance measures, underlining the importance of adaptability and global perceptions of company climate for effectiveness and future growth.
