The primary concern of time series analysis is to recognize the structure of time series. If it is thereby possible to establish that certain regularities exist in this structure, then perhaps it is possible to make rationally founded predictions about their development. In the approach discussed here, the time series is brocken down into its basic casual components. In this way, one can research the causes for its development, which leads, in the end, to a deeper understanding of the regularities.
