PROCESS-CONTROL BASIC SIMPLIFIES PROGRAMMING

For small control applications, BASIC enables control engineers to code their own applications, which shortens development time. Engineers with little to no software training can use BASIC'S English-like syntax. Recently, several companies have further adapted BASIC to process control. Among the offerings are XY BASIC from Mark Williams Co. , Power BASIC from Texas Instruments and Process BASIC (PBASIC) from Mostek Corp. This article discusses Mostek's PBASIC as an illustration of the capabilities that adapted BASIC's can provide.
