GOOD TEACHER-STUDENT RELATIONSHIPS - A KEY ELEMENT IN CLASSROOM MOTIVATION AND MANAGEMENT

This paper focuses on the importance of teachers building good relationships with students as a critical element in both motivating students to learn and in decreasing the incidence of behavior problems in the classroom. Teacher educators need to not only emphasize the importance of developing positive teacher-student relationships in their courses, but they also need to include specific examples of how to improve these relationships. Classroom teachers need to be aware of the importance of these relationships and take steps to incorporate actions and activities that will result in improved teacher-student interaction.
