Weather data recorded over 20 years at 17 meteorological stations are examined to find optimum haymaking periods of 3 to 6 consecutive days and get basic information on the haymaking process. The results indicate for most of the sites that the second cut should be used more frequently for haymaking and that ventilation with cold air is the best method to minimize the local risk of bad weather.
