STUDIES ON SOME NOVEL MIXED-LIGAND CYANONITROSYL HETERO COMPLEXES OF CHROMIUM(I) WITH POTENTIALLY BI-DENTATE AND TRI-DENTATE BENZIMIDAZOLE DERIVATIVES

摘要
Some novel mixed-ligand hetero complexes of chromium(I), obtained from the interaction of potassium pentacyanonitrosyl-chromate(I) monohydrate, K3[Cr(NO) (CN)5], H2O, with 2- ’-hydroxy-phenyl)-, 2–(2’ -chlorophenyl)-, 2–(2’-aminophenyl)-, 2-(3’-aminophenyl) 2-(3’-tolyl)- and 2-(2’-pyridyl)- benzimidazoles are described. The products, which have been characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductances, magnetic measurments, thermogravimetric analyses, electron spin resonance and infrared spectral studies, have the general formula [Cr(NO(CN)2 (L)2 (H2O)] (where L = 2-(2’-hydroxyphenyl)-, 2-(2’-chlorophenyl)-or 2-(3’-tolyl)- benzimidazole) and [Cr(NO(CN)2 (L-L) (H2O)] (where L - L = 2-(2’-aminophenyl)-, 2-(3’-aminophenyl)- or 2(2’-pyridyl)- benzimidazole). Octahedral structures have been suggested for the complexes. Chromium(I) has a low-spin{CrNO}5 electron configuration 1 in these complexes. © 1990, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
