WHAT MAKES NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING IN ADIPOSITY SO DIFFICULT

Problems of adipose persons who ask for advice and those of dietitians giving advice are discussed. Prejudice on either side der communication and agreement on a satisfactory catalogue of measures for weight reduction difficult. Success in the long run depends on a change in the nutrition behaviour. To correct the nutrition behaviour is also difficult because of the oversupply of attractive food and the socio-cultural importance of eating and drinking (what, when, how and why one eats/drinks). Insight and lasting motivation are required to cope with some typical situations which may become stumbling blocks to the persons concerned. However, there are many ways of avoiding such critical situations.
