CHEMICAL-TESTS FOR PROPER UNIT OPERATION OF WATER-PURIFICATION PLANT BY MEMBRANE AND ION-EXCHANGE TECHNIQUES

摘要
Reverse osmosis, followed by ion-exchange, are used to prepare complete mineral free water for industrial use mainly as boiler feed for thermal power plants. But to produce a satisfactory quality of pure water for the respective uses, strict control of unit operation of both RO and IE plants is the first and fundamental condition. Selection of appropriate chemical tests in monitoring the production cycle of the individual units of both RO and IE plants is quite significant to achieve that output. Unsatisfactory results may not be unusual, especially in deionisation plants for the lack of appropriate control tests during production. In this paper, the technical advantages of some essential chemical monitoring tests during operation are discussed.
