Intellectual history, history of concepts, Italian studies

Texts and images in any way connected with the word 'Italy' are far too numerous; any historian of Italy could hardly adopt naive positivism since he/she would need to take into consideration various intellectual contexts and discourses in order to deal with outwardly simplistic research goals. Therefore we should discuss the perspectives of studying Italy as multi-layered object, not divided into fragments, that is, "Italy' as one object of intellectual history. Intellectual history emerged as an answer to the challenge of disciplines, as an attempt to re-create united knowledge in humanities.
