摘要
Tuboovarian abscesses are a complication associated with acute or chronic pelvic inflammatory disease. The infection is usually polymicrobial and is associated with young women sexually active, nulliparous and users of intrauterine device (IUD), although they can occur in adolescents without sexual life. The diagnosis of tuboovarian abscess can be difficult when there are no signs or symptoms associated with pelvic inflammatory disease. There have been reports in which are able to simulate benign pelvic tumors such as uterine fibroids and malignant tumors, including ovarian cancer and colon cancer. Ultrasonud changes, tomography and magnetic resonance imaging may become subtle between malignant tumors of the pelvis and tuboovarian abscesses. We report a patient 30-years-old, sexually active and non-carrier of IUD, which comes with a giant pelvic tumor with elevated tumor markers and no data or evidence of infection, is diagnosed as possible ovarian cancer and is subjected to exploratory laparotomy performing a posterior pelvic exenteration supralevator was documented in the postoperative bilateral tubo-ovarian abscesses. Receives medical treatment and is a graduate favorably.
