NUCLEAR FERMI-GAS MODEL IN A STRONG MAGNETIC-FIELD

摘要
The maximum kinetic energies of the protons and neutrons in a nucleus in the Fermi-gas model are determined as functions of the magnetic field strength. It is shown that with increasing field strength the Fermi energy of the protons and neutrons increases, reaching saturation for the neutrons. It is also shown that in a magnetic field the depth of the well for the nucleons increases faster than their Fermi energy. The magnetic field strengths that influence the energy of the nucleons of a nucleus in the Fermi-gas model are determined.
