Does "stress" cause infertility? Psyche and myths in assisted reproductive technologies

摘要：
The correlation of psychic stress and fertility disorders plays a major role in lay theories of etiology, especially concerning unexplained infertility. In this review the development of psychosomatic models is outlined. A definition of psychogenic infertility is given and the results of systematic studies on the influence of distress on fertility are discussed critically. Further myths about psyche and reproductive medicine treatment are specified. The paper ends with a conclusion on handling the topic "stress" with involuntarily childless couples.
