摘要：
An approach to self-paced teaching and learning using a computer module, which is one of a suite produced by a consortium of seven UK universities, is described using the problem of investigating the spatial distribution of ribwort plantain as an example. This provides the focus for learning about randomness, the Poisson distribution and goodness-of-fit testing using the chi-square distribution.
