摘要
We have observed and analyzed the hybridization of a pi-exciton excited state with its ground state in Cd1-xMnxTe. Magnetoreflectance spectra of Cd1-xMnxTe recorded at temperature T = 1.3 K and for magnetic fields 11.0 less-than-or-equal-to B less-than-or-equal-to 15.5 T show that the transition strength of the low-energy Zeeman component of the ir exciton decreases with increasing B while that of another exciton which appears about 4 meV lower in energy increases. A spherical model of the exciton which incorporates the valence-band degeneracies, the effects of an applied magnetic field, and the exchange interaction between the band electrons and the localized Mn 3d electrons gives good agreement with the data. The model shows that the low-energy Zeeman component of the pi exciton hybridizes with an excited state which seemingly leads to another exciton transition in the magnetoreflectance spectra. We have also observed and analyzed an excited-state transition of the sigma+ exciton using the same model.
