摘要
In this paper, we prove analytically that the upper atmospheric thermocline can support ducted acoustic and acoustic-gravity waves without the necessity of including a ground rigid surface, or a sound-speed minimum at the mesopause, or dissipative mechanisms. By considering a suitable monotonically increasing temperature profile, close to the average atmospheric profile, we obtain the dispersion relation for the guided modes together with the associated eigensolutions.
