Change and continuity in Bachelet's election

Michelle Bachelet's coming to power in 2006 brought continuities and changes to Chilean politics. The continuities are seen in this forth consecutive winning for the Concertacion, Chilean's historical left-centered coalition since the recoverty of democracy in 1989. The changes arise with Bachelet's person, beeing the first woman to be president of the country. 2006 electoral context caracterized by divisions within right-wing parties, by an excellent performance of Ricardo Lagos previous government as well as by successes and mistakes of the Concertacion.
