FROM PAST TO PRESENT THE 'OWL' FIGURE IN CERAMIC ART

摘要
From the existence of human being to the present day, it's possible to come across "owl" figure almost in every culture. From past to present, in the historical period "owl" figure has been used in ceramic field, since probably it is the teacher of paradox and mystery; life and death, relaxation, f emininity, also darkness and unknown. At past, in human life, owl figure was sometimes turned into a goddess and sometimes into an everyday object. Owl, in certain cultures is accepted as the symbol of art and wisdom but in others has become the sign of malignity. Though from past to present the interest of artists and craftsmen to owls has never decreased. This research aims to focus on the relationship between human and owl by means of ceramic art which is made up of clay and in this direction the process of art and owl from past civilizations to present was examined. The study includes the products such as ceramic plate, sculpture, form, panel and etc. from private collections, museums which have owl subject matter and also contains ceramic pieces that have been produced and still being produced by ceramic artists at past and today.
