KINETIC SOLVENT ISOTOPE EFFECT ON ACID-CATALYZED HYDROLYSIS OF HYDROXAMIC ACIDS

摘要
Rate-acidity profiles have been established for the acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of hydroxamic acids of the type,R1 C(O)N(OH)R2 (i) R1 = C6H5, R2 = H (BHA); (ii) R1 = C6H5, R2 = C6H5 (PBHA); (iii) R1 = C6H5, R2 = C6H5CH2 (BBHA) in D2SO4-D2O and DC1-D2O containing 10 vol.% dioxane at 55-degrees-C. A kinetic solvent isotope effect was found at lower acid concentrations.
