A DATA-BASE METHOD FOR 3D-OPEN BOUNDARY FIELD COMPUTATION

A new method for 3D open boundary field computation, the data base method, is introduced in this paper. It is developed from the sub-structure-frontal method[l]. In the data base method, all assembling and eliminating procedures of the open field region are done in advance, and the results are stored in a disc as a data base for further computations of a wide range of problems different in scale, material properties, structure, etc. Each time of doing our computation in the future by the new method, we just start from the data base instead of the “infinitely far” boundary. Therefore, the maximum of saving in computer resources is reached. With the new method, we can limit the computation region to the minimum and make it possible to solve large 3D problems in a mini- or even a micro-computer. © 1990, IEEE. All rights reserved.
