BINARY RELAXATION IN COLD COLLAPSE OF A SELF-GRAVITATING N-BODY SYSTEM

摘要
Binary relaxation in a cold collapse system is examined. Though the virial ratio it oscillates violently in this system, it does not exceed 2 because the system is bounded. We find that binary relaxation is not negligible after the first collapse if the maximum virial ratio k(max) becomes as large as 2-O(N-1) during the collapse. But it seems that such a large virial ratio cannot be realized in any galactic system.
