Under investigation in this study was the possible role that exercise and sport play in the lifestyle of young managers. A survey questionnaire was completed by Dutch business studies graduates (n = 402) who, during their period of study, had followed courses in physical education. The questionnaire was designed to draw out information about respondents' sport and exercise participation, including their motivation for participation and other aspects likely to affect participation, such as general health, family circumstances and work situation. The results indicated that a large proportion of respondents continued to take part in exercise and sport but some important differences in the nature of participation, linked to time since graduation, were apparent. In addition, those who are sedentary at work were found to spend less time exercising than those who are, by comparison, "active" at work. A number of findings with respect to those respondents who are sedentary at work were a cause for concern.
