THE TREND TOWARDS MASSIFICATION OF HIGHER EDUCATION EXPANSION IN LATIN AMERICA

摘要：
This article analyzes the causes of the process of massification of higher education in Latin America in context of educative expansion, of social democratization and of families' demand for education. It details the general trends of the process and suggests new ways of classifying the different access categories. It examines some characteristics of the new type of students, whose arrival to college depended on the expansion of higher education. It also examines the effects of the process of massification on the development of new forms of educative inequality, and the persistence of social inequality.
